The Small Wind Conference is a terrific conference for those interested in distributed wind technology and smaller scale distributed renewable electricity in general. It is definitely the place to go to get the most accurate and up to date info on small wind turbine technology. And its linkage with the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair and Conference provides even more opportunities to learn about the newest equipment and trends from the most knowledgeable folks in the country. Both conferences are well attended by leading authorities in small scale renewable energy technology. The leading manufacturers, researchers and testing experts, installers, advocates, writers, publishers and educators are all in attendance in a small enough venue to provide great access to the experts and their experience. There is a great spirit of collegiality and conviviality at both events as well. I really enjoyed the presentations and workshops, as well as the opportunity to talk with the researchers, installers and manufacturers of equipment. It was great to see many of the latest products in the display sections of the conferences as well. Good food and drink too, which is always a good thing. Stevens Point, Wisconsin is near both conferences and is a nice little college town with a bike path surrounding the town. You can rent bikes in town and get some fresh air and exercise, if you need a break from all the nerdiness.

I showed up--and they gave me an award.
Fun. The way wind conferences used to be.
Forget your suit. Bring a wrench.
